Ready For Wildfire

Cal Fire has assembled a site called Ready For Wildfire that explains some of the goals and requirements for defensible space around homes in California. Here you will find some of the criteria that we use when designing our defensible space plans, as well as tips about what you can do yourself to prepare your home and family for wildfire.

How Fighting Wildfires Makes Them Worse

This is a short animated video produced by Minute Earth. The video uses an easy to understand format that explains the problem of over-suppression of wildfires, without too much confusing terminology.

Klamath Media
Catching Fire: Prescribed Burning in Northern CA

A full-length, 4 part documentary that explores the development of a prescribed burn program along the Klamath River by the local Native American tribes and their neighbors. Following the filming of the documentary in 2012, a wildfire broke out in a nearby area. The damage from this blaze in 2013 was greatly reduced as it burned into the area that had been treated with prescribed fire shown in the film.
